What does it mean? (A NemID glossary)

Code card

  • A physical card with 148 one-time codes printed on it, to be entered together with your user ID and password in order to log into systems using NemID. A special version of the code card is available for people with reduced vision. This is what a normal code card looks like

User-ID
  • Common name for the three different user IDs NemID can use: self-chosen user ID, CPR no. and NemID no.

Self-chosen User-ID
  • Unique self-chosen identification. Self-chosen user IDs are between 5-48 characters in length. CPR no. or NemID no. may be used as an alternative.

NemID no.
  • A unique nine-digit number you receive when your NemID user account is created. May be used as an alternative to a self-chosen user ID or CPR no.

Password
  • Your self-chosen password for logging into services which use NemID. If you forget this, or enter it incorrectly 10 times so that it becomes locked, you will need to request a new activation password via Netbank Support or your local borgerservice centre (citizen service centre). Self-chosen passwords are composed of between 6-40 numbers and/or letters. Self-chosen passwords are not case sensitive.

Activation password
  • A six-digit password provided by a bank, Netbank Support or citizen service centre. It can be used once to log in and create a self-chosen password. Valid for 30 days if issued via letter, or eight hours if issued via a text message.

OTP
  • One Time Password refers to the individual codes printed on the code card.

OCES
  • Offentlige Certifikater for Elektronisk Service (Public Certificates for Electronic Services) - refers to the part of NemID which is used to log into all services other than Netbank.
